Miss Hawaii’s January 2019 Recap!

This post was submitted by Penelope Ng Pack, Miss Hawaii 2018 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through childrensmiraclenetworkhospitals.org/guest-post.

Aloha everyone!

January 2019 has sure flown by and was filled with lots of Miss Hawaii & Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) fun.

The first weekend of January brought together all 17 candidates for Miss Hawaii 2019!

First stop of orientation was Kapi’olani Medical Center where Hoku DeFeo of the KMC & CMN team shared with us about the longstanding partnership between the Miss America Organization and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and inspired our candidates to think out of the box when fundraising for CMN. In the next couple of months we have a Panda Express fundraiser, a bake sale, and two Zumbathons, just to name a few!

Next, we visited Argosy University, a major supporter and generous sponsor of the Miss Hawaii Scholarship Program! Kawika gave us a tour of the Argosy campus downtown and gave us insight into the many ways we can utilize our scholarships. As Miss Hawaii, I receive a full scholarship to Argosy University!

Once we all arrived at Saint Louis School for the second half of orientation, I was excited to gift each candidate with their own Miss Hawaii Class of 2019 tote bag from my ohana to officially start their journey to Miss Hawaii.

The next exciting event on the road to Miss Hawaii is our 23rd annual Miss Hawaii Scholarship Golf Tournament on March 22nd! Join us at the Klipper Golf Course in Kaneohe for a fun day of golfing to support our beloved Miss Hawaii Organization and also meet all of your 2019 Miss Hawaii candidates. Be sure to sign your team up by Saturday, February 9th — I hope to meet you there!
