Miss Hawai’i September Fun & BIG Announcement

Aloha all!

October is approaching and I am back with a recap of this past month. September was a great month for my social impact initiative, S.N.A.P (Service Nurtures All People) and many great partnerships were created. *** BIG ANNOUNCMENT at the end of this post! ***

I have officially partnered my social impact initiative S.N.A.P. (Service Nurtures All People) with the Dignity Assisted Living Center. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had a great meeting with the CEO, Albert Chen, discussing our plans to provide service projects and opportunities for the senior residents in his facility during their activity time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Research finds that our kupuna (elderly and senior citizens) benefit greatly when provided enjoyable and fun opportunities which also stimulate their mental and physical health. By volunteering to perform projects like assembling toys, blanket making, quilting, etc, which would be donated to other charitable organizations, the elderly at Dignity Assisted Living Center will enhance the lives of others as well as their own. It’s a win-win for everyone. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Stay tuned to see the upcoming projects we will be implementing into their activity time.— Service Nurtures ALL People! #SNAPintoAction #MAO #MissAmerica

I am so excited to partner S.N.A.P with the Dignity Assisted Living Center to provide service opportunities for their senior residents. We have a very exciting service project planned for October. Can’t wait!

After meeting with Volunteer Coordinator, Melani, my social impact initiative S.N.A.P. will partner with Waimea Valley to support their “Make a Difference Day” community service project on October 26, 2019. Save the date! If you would like to volunteer and join our S.N.A.P crew, please contact me at nikkikehaulaniholbrook@misshawaii.org or the contact information in the post below. https://www.instagram.com/p/B2ZqKUsB7bd/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

A Night at the Soiree! Thank you to the Kapi’olani Medical Center for having us at this wonderful event to raise money for a new Pediatric Heart Center. We raised $10,000 in just 45 minutes! Mahalo to everyone who attended and for supporting @cmnhospitals.

It was an honor to meet with Representative Takashi Ohno at the Hawai’i State Capitol to discuss my social impact initiative S.N.A.P and my ideas to implement a service learning curriculum in Hawai’i schools.

Time for the big announcement…… and I must admit I have been looking forward to October not just because of Halloween and the excuse to eat candy but because…

I am partnering with Big City Diner to raise money for the Kapi’olani Medical Center!

Throughout the month of October, stop by any Big City Diner’s on O’ahu and keep your eyes out for our coin jars on all of the tables! Your change can make a change! 100% of the proceeds will stay local, benefitting the Kapi’olani Medical Center and the Miss Hawai’i Organization.

Follow my social media to see when I will be at Big City Diner!

Hope to see you there! Happy October!
