Kapiolani’s 12 Days of Giving: Kauai’s Kelsie Kashima

On the sixth day of giving we’re thankful for Kelsie Kashima. The Kauai resident often visits Kapiolani for her daughter Pyper’s appointments. Recently Kelsie arrived with luggage bags filled with toys for Santa’s Workshop and shape sorters for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Pyper was in the NICU for over six weeks. Kelsie strongly believes these colorful shape sorters helped Pyper develop cognitive and motor skills, which can be especially important for NICU babies. “Being in the NICU is really tough, and to know that someone else is thinking of you can make a world of difference. If Kapiolani wasn’t here, my daughter wouldn’t be here, and that’s the case for a lot of these kids.”
