Intern Life with Children’s Miracle Network!

My first encounters with Children’s Miracle Network were through Key Club, where I had promoted and participated in events, such as Miracle Treat Day. Although I knew that the organization helped children hospitals improve and continue their care, I was unaware of the extent to which CMN was able to help.

Being an intern with Hawai‘i Pacific Health has brought to light just how extensive this organization is and how much of a role it plays in helping serve Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women and Children and the children and families of Hawai‘i. From doing miscellaneous tasks such as compiling excel sheets to preparing for fundraising initiatives to help HPH’s Philanthropy team, I was surprised to learn about the multitude of different initiatives and all the behind the scene work it takes from the team and community to organize and carry out these successful fundraising efforts. However, what surprised me the most, was how much of a difference that these team and community efforts make to help families and children of Kapi‘olani Hospital. CMN provided funds for all areas, from providing new equipment for patients, to developing better support for hospital operations and patient services, to creating more educational opportunities for families, staff, and community, all of which play a role in helping everyone feel a little more at ease, especially during such a scary and stressful time.

Being an intern here, and being able to help with the Children’s Miracle Network events and projects has given me a newfound understanding of how important and impactful this organization is in helping create a healthier Hawai‘i.
